Whenuapai Airbase for Formula 1
Wouldn't Whenuapai Airbase make a great location for a F1 circuit? Now a firm contract for many F1 races would bring in the sort of revenue to the economy that the America's Cup racing provided.....
It would be nice though to have the option of running a F1 in NZ. Financing something like that would be the difficulty for NZ. I think that if someone took the punt on it and Bernie committed to allowing raccing there then it would pay off well.
To early for the F1 in akld/nz. need to ensure we can cope with the V8s 1stly then move to the indy lites establish ourselves and then provided enough financial support and support of the locals rock on up to the F1. PS. Hopefully my daughter will be the 1st female driver to win Bathurst GO THE HOLDEN
Well that is a good idea Mike about your daughter being a Holden racer. The track for a f1 race needs to be specifically designed. Why not do it from the beginning...... Turkey and China and Russia and even Mexico are preparing tracks for the F1 calander. With NZ's record of motorsport. WIth the fact that McLaren was started in NZ, I think a track at Whenuapai would be a great idea.

We are far too small for F1 if we can't host a V8 supercar race with ease.
