Oil hits $74 US per barrel
Oil hit a record $74 a barrel Wednesday on fears Iran's intensifying dispute with the West may hit oil supplies and after U.S. gasoline stocks dropped.

I was only about 5 years old, but perhaps best ask your Dad about how they coped with the Arab Oil Embargo in the early '70s. Didn't NZ have a think-big project at the time when synthetic petrol was being developed?
the opec crisis hit all nations pretty hard, I think they had a drive on odd or even days according to the last digit of your rego. Bit foggy on that, because we didn't learn it in school, instead we learn all about captain bloody cook, who rumour has it was a mincing poof.
