Boosted the i Mac

Today I bumped up the ram of my G4 i Mac from 256 to 1GB. I also treated her to some new Harmon / Kardon speakers along with sub woofer, and the Mighty Mouse from Mac. All is good, and all I need now is the i Pod Nano and the Motorola ROKR which plays itunes on the phone and I will be set for a while. Excellent Apple.

Rob, what's your opinion of the Mac Mini? They've upgraded the specs here. I'm thinking of buying one in a few months as my first foray into the world of Macs. Any teething/common problems reported on it?

THey seem to be all good form what I have heard. i'd hop on the apple web sites and see what the feedback is.... Remember that if you are buying it for games you will not have as much selection as a p.c.

That's OK -- I don't play games on the computer. I'd surf the 'Net and possibly play DVDs, and the like. I'm more really for stability and security. A protest vs what I see as Microsoft continuously making half-baked products to the detriment of innocent consumers. Also forced upgrades of programmes with features I don't even need, with functions that are relocated needlessly. Though really no choice, neither do I particularly enjoy having to update the antivirus almost twice a week because Gates & co. leave so much of Windows or Explorer vulnerable to attack. Oh -- and also for ease of use. And it doesn't appear to be made obsolete so quickly. In the meantime, I use Firefox.

I use firefox too... I think you should get an Apple. Most of your problems will be solved with an Apple. You ready to vote Tony?

Rob -- yep, sure am. Mike -- that's also what I feared, but an ex-colleague of mine, admittedly brainless with computers, uses her husband's Macs with ease. If she can do it, the dog might not be to old. I was worried that, like some who start driving automatics and forget how to drive a manual, I might forget how to use Windows. But, since Windows is the de-facto platform in most workplaces, I should be exposed to it too often to forget it. How do you like your iPod Shuffle? Like the looks, but don't you find it difficult not having an LCD screen?
