Is Rodney Hide going to compete on Dancing with the stars?

That is the question?

I can see all the cynics out there sneering at the thought of Rodney doing the boogy woogy with some young temptress, but really what has Rodney or the ACT party got to loose by doing this?

The only thing that will have you all saying "I told you so" will be if Rodney gets booted on the first show. I can't imagine any sympathy votes being won if that happens, so the challenge to Rodney if he decides to do it is.... WIN WIN WIN. Good lucky.

"What have they go to lose?"

Epsom.

Not really..... ACT needs to get bigger and win more seats... Hanging on by the skin of the teeth in Epsom is interim. At least it shows Rodney has the balls to do something different which may in turn appeal to the mum and dad voters out there. I don't think that the Epsom voters will NOT vote for him because of Dancing with the stars. It will be up to ACTs organisational and promotional skills along with the state of the party when it comes to the next election.

Rob, no serious politician would enter into such an event. That's why the last MP who was on the show is a transsexual with little or no yen for politics other than being quirky and different. If ACT wants to grow and win more seats then they actually need to address the issues that concern voters, not get coverage on TV. Remember, it's not that you are known, its what you are known for.

I think that Epsom voters may well wonder why the hell they voted for someone to go off dancing on TV with celebrities instead of getting on with the work of Parliament. Epsom is a conservative seat, this is not Auckland Central or Dunedin.

And if you are placing faith in ACT's organisational and promotional skills for the next election (instead of the integrity and saleability of the leader), then I guess it doesn't matter - Rodney should simply enjoy what time he has left as an MP.

Lets see what happens. I think it is a storm in a teacup for everyone to be predicting the demise of Rodney Hide and ACT just because he is going to be on prime time television strutting his stuff. It certainly will raise his profile if he lasts more than a show. I think it will be rather interesting. Pity I wont be able to see it over here. Can you please send me a copy Aaron?

I don't think I can bear to watch! If Mara tapes some of the series, I'll post a tape over.

You at least have to watch it.....If it turns out unfortunately then you can say I told you so. If Rodney wins then hey hey, he has a talent I didn't know he had.

Its the sort of thing where I'd rather not say "I told you so". Criticising Rodney or ACT on policy is fair game, but I'd rather not see him (or any serious politician) lose respect over this.

Aaron should go on Celebrity Treasure Island.

Hands up who agrees?

HEHE.....

Missed that comment!

And my answer is certainly not. I'm not a celebrity, and I don't need any treasure.

Besides, I'd rather be at home with my wife and West Highland Terrier.

Never heard of celebrity treasure island, but it sounded funny.......

It is drivel.

But come to think of it, I can't think of anything better than vapid Kiwi celebrities burying their heads in a bucket of crabs.

Stay away from the crabs Pablo.....
